Purpose of the Role

The ICT Coordinator is responsible for overseeing, managing, and organizing ICT systems and services at the Nairobi Regional Delegation. This includes leading ICT activities, ensuring systems operate efficiently, and aligning operations with the Global ICT Strategy to support the organization’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

ICT Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee the maintenance and administration of servers, networks, and workstations, ensuring security and optimal functionality.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and conduct regular system checks.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols to protect systems and data from unauthorized access or cyber threats.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and internal ICT policies.

Service Delivery and Support

  • Provide second- and third-level workplace support for ICT-related issues and manage helpdesk operations for timely resolution.
  • Act as a liaison between ICT and other departments to address technological needs and communicate ICT policies effectively.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions on new systems, applications, and ICT best practices, emphasizing cybersecurity.

Strategic ICT Planning

  • Assist in planning, executing, and monitoring IT projects, including software implementations and network upgrades.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning, ensuring backup systems are regularly tested.
  • Develop long-term IT strategies and assess emerging technologies for organizational benefit.
  • Assist in ICT budget planning and resource management to optimize expenditures.

Documentation and Quality Control

  • Maintain accurate documentation of ICT infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
  • Regularly update technical manuals and user guides.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy, reliable ICT stocks management, and strict quality control of procured goods and services.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Ensure adherence to ICT policies, rules, and procedures while aligning them with operational and local contexts.
  • Manage relationships with service providers and vendors, ensuring cost-effective solutions and high service quality.
  • Lead, train, and mentor staff members, ensuring adequate knowledge and skill levels within the ICT team.

Certifications and Educational Requirements

  • Post-graduate degree in Telecommunication, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • ICT Management Certification (ITIL) is required.
  • Certification in Project Management is an asset.
  • Certification as a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) is an advantage.

Professional Experience

  • 9–12 years of professional experience, including:
    • At least 4 years in troubleshooting within ICT service catalogs (e.g., workplace services, telecommunications, helpdesk).
    • 3–4 years of ICT management and engineering experience.
